Migration is a business decision
Joomla still runs important sites. Moving to WordPress because “everyone else did” can burn budget if editors are productive and extensions cover the job.
Good reasons to move
- Hiring and freelancer availability skew toward WordPress
- Marketing wants a plugin ecosystem the current Joomla stack lacks
- Security/maintenance burden is rising on custom Joomla extensions
- A redesign is already funded — hitch the CMS change to that project
Good reasons to stay
- Complex access control already modeled well in Joomla
- Custom components would be more expensive to rebuild than to maintain
- The site is stable and editors are trained
If you migrate, protect SEO
Map every public URL. 301 redirects are not optional. Rebuild menus and metadata deliberately; do not assume the importer gets IA right.
Content mapping beats magical importers
Articles, categories, tags, media, and users each need a rule. We run a pilot on a content subset before the full cutover.
Rayaxis maintains Joomla where it earns its keep and migrates when WordPress is clearly the lower long-term cost.
