Admin apps are products
An admin panel is not a leftover CRUD screen. It is where operations people spend their day. If it is slow or confusing, they invent spreadsheets around it.
Choose the scaffolding on purpose
We use tools like Filament when speed matters and the domain fits resources + forms. We go custom React + Laravel API when the UI is highly interactive or the client already standardized on a design system.
Either way, keep domain logic in Laravel — not trapped in generated UI glue.
Permissions early
Role checks bolted on at the end become if ($user->isAdmin()) soup. Model policies and a clear role matrix from day one save rewrites when a second department arrives.
Audit what matters
Log who changed prices, approvals, and user roles. You do not need a forensic warehouse; you need a believable trail when something goes wrong.
UX rules that prevent support tickets
- Destructive actions need confirmations with the entity name
- Filters should be shareable via query string
- Empty states should say what to do next
- Bulk actions need clear success/failure counts
Rayaxis builds admin systems for businesses that outgrew spreadsheets but still need humans in the loop.
