React + Laravel: A Boring Architecture That Ships Client Portals

June 8, 2026react · laravel · architecture · portals

Our default React SPA + Laravel API layout for client portals — auth, folders, and the boundaries that keep teams fast.

All posts

Boring is a feature

Client portals need reliable auth, file uploads, roles, and a UI non-developers can learn. Exotic architectures slow that down.

Default shape

  • Laravel: domain logic, policies, queues, mail, admin
  • React: portal UI, forms, dashboards
  • Sanctum or token auth depending on hosting topology
  • OpenAPI or a simple typed client so frontend/backend contracts do not drift silently

Folder discipline

Group by domain (Invoices, Projects, Messages) on both sides when the app grows. Technical layers alone become dumping grounds.

Deployments

Version the API. Run migrations in CI/CD with a rollback story. Frontend and backend can deploy independently if you keep contract compatibility.

Rayaxis returns to this shape often because it matches how our team — and many client teams — actually work.
