Shared Design Systems for Android and iOS Without Fake Parity

January 7, 2026android · ios · ui-ux · design system · mobile

How we align Android and iOS UX for client products without pretending both platforms are the same OS.

All posts

Parity is not identical pixels

Clients often ask for the same app on both platforms. What they usually need is the same product language — not a cloned navigation pattern that fights HIG or Material.

Share tokens, specialize components

We share color, type scale, spacing, and content rules. Navigation, forms, and system dialogs follow platform conventions unless there is a strong brand reason not to.

One source of truth for content

Empty states, error copy, and feature flags should not diverge by accident. Designers and engineers need a shared component inventory with platform notes.

Where Flutter/React Native fit

Cross-platform frameworks help when the team is small and the UI is form/list heavy. We still budget platform-specific work for push, backgrounds, and store policies.

Rayaxis designs and builds mobile products with intentional sameness — brand cohesive, platform fluent.
